Unfortunately I arrived rather late, and only saw the bluescreen element of the workshop.

My own experience of gaming is with MMORPGs, so I was a little surprised to see an overt focus on first-person 'shoot em ups'. However, the scenario with the dead bodies was particularly beautiful in terms of the blending of virtual and real. The bluescreen offers much in the way of potential for such blending, but sadly there was insufficient time to get to grips with it. The other interesting idea that surfaced was the meeting of virtual players and physical bodies, but it only became apparent that this was possible as we were about to de-rig. This is the area that I would like to explore if I were making a piece of performance - the limitations of the avatars' physicality would be interesting to explore in relation to human movement (although I'm not quite sure how at this point!) I would wish to play within the environment for a little while first.

For me, communication is the key issue for MMORPGs (and I'm not really interested in solo gaming). So gaming is a very social activity. I would like to pursue performance work that draws on that kind of approach - what happens if you hold a party in game?

More tomorrow!!
